Begin with the window and its surroundings. A comfortable platform is useful only when the mounting surface and the cat’s access route are suitable.

Confirm the mounting surface

Read the exact requirements for glass, sill dimensions, brackets or suction attachments. Check the stated load limit and installation method. Do not adapt a mount to an unapproved surface or rely on a similar-looking replacement fitting. Include bedding and possible simultaneous use when assessing the intended load.

Plan the approach and exit

The cat should be able to reach and leave the platform without a difficult leap over obstacles. Consider age, mobility and nearby furniture. Check usable resting space inside any frame rather than external dimensions alone. A clear route also helps prevent another pet from blocking the cat on the perch.

Secure the window environment

Do not assume an ordinary insect screen will contain a cat. Keep the window arrangement secure and follow appropriate precautions for opening mechanisms. Remove blind cords and other entanglement hazards from reach. Check sunlight and heat during the part of the day when the perch will be occupied.

Inspect the installation repeatedly

Follow the manufacturer’s inspection schedule and any suction-mount resetting instructions. Check after cleaning the glass or moving the perch. Test the empty installation as directed before allowing access; do not use the cat as a load test. Remove the perch if a fitting slips, cracks or will not remain secure.

Sources and scope

This guide offers practical selection and setup checks. It does not claim hands-on testing of named products. Follow the exact product manual for installation and care; consult a veterinarian about changes in your pet’s health or behavior.
