Multi-Cat Feeding Checklist: Stations and Individual Meals

Plan feeding stations with a written meal map, clear access and a caregiver fallback before purchasing bowls, stands or electronic feeders.

Make a meal map for each cat

List the animal, food, measuring method and any established special instructions. Keep veterinary dietary directions intact. Do not define the plan by the capacity of a feeder. A simple written record helps every caregiver distinguish meal requirements from device settings and makes equipment failure easier to manage.

Sketch the room and approaches

Mark each proposed station, doors and nearby furniture. Observe whether cats wait, guard an entrance or crowd one another. Identify a route out as well as a route in. Separate bowls physically where appropriate instead of assuming several dishes on one stand create independent access.

Compare basic and controlled-access equipment

For a plain bowl, check stability, usable space and cleaning. For an electronic feeder, add identification method, power behavior, shared-access risks and the introduction process. Ask what happens if the intended cat does not use it. Do not buy a specialized feature without a specific care problem it is meant to solve.

Confirm the cleaning rotation

Record which parts detach, which tools clean them and where dry replacements are kept. Keep feeding equipment separate from waste-cleaning tools. Check the surface beneath stands and mats. A second clean bowl can make maintenance easier without requiring an elaborate duplicated station.

Run a supervised handover

Have another caregiver serve the recorded meals while you are present. Watch each cat’s access and correct confusing labels or settings.
